Lovely Black and White

>> Wednesday, October 13, 2010

This is an oldie, but goodie. One of my favorites and one of the ones I’ve chosen to enter in the Local Photo Contest in a few weeks.

Kaufmann 108the long road I took this photo when I first got started back in late April/early May. It’s one of my absolute favorites. I  have a color version, too. And just for the sake of showing it off, I shall now present it to you as my link up for Lovely Photo Wednesday with Aspire.ColorDaisy

The Challenges I am behind on…

>> Wednesday, October 6, 2010

I’m behind. I can’t help it. I’m swamped right now and I’m afraid that it’s only going to get worse when we get our orders and I start trying to track us down somewhere to live. Not to mention, my photos that I shot for all of the challenges that I knew about this week, are gone thanks to a jacked up memory card. ::Hiss:: But no matter, here are the ones that I’ve been able to round up.

Macro Friday

>> Friday, October 1, 2010

I’m really bummed out this morning. I have been insanely busy this week potty training and running errands. I’ve been shooting photos and snapping my heart away all week long, keeping up with my Project 365. I had intentions of editing my heart out today. Last night I went to upload all of my photos and they were gone. Don’t know how, don’t know why, but gone. Everything I shot this week…I was heartbroken. Never had that happen. Thank GOD there weren’t any session photos on there. So, instead today I’m linking up another shot, an older shot, for Macro Friday…

Macro Friday and Lovely Bokeh

>> Thursday, September 23, 2010

I took several shots of these cute little red flowers this past week [or was it last week?] for my Project 365. I used one photo for yesterdays’ Before and After, but I have another today for Macro Friday with Laura. I was unbelievably surprised with how this turned out. Even SOOC. Of course, me being the junkie that I am, I had to add some fun textures and I’m really pleased with the outcome. I shot this using my Canon Rebel Xsi and my 18-55 Kit Lens.

Day25-3 4990658393_2486e5cf67_m

And this week I’m joining in for Shoot and Tell with Natalie. This weeks theme is bokeh, so I went digging through the archives for one of my favorite bokeh photos. I took this in a Garden at a shoot I did back in May.This was before I learned how to use textures, so the only editing that’s been done to this [beside the watermark] is a slight bump in color.

Before & After

>> Wednesday, September 22, 2010

I had a nice fun before and after photo of Candy Corn that I was going to post today in honor of the beginning of Fall. Then I started working on some of my waaaay behind schedule Project 365 edits and found one [okay, about five] that I liked better. So..here I am, changing my mind at nearly 10:30 on Wednesday night because I am indecisive. And truth be known, if I don’t hit PUBLISH when I’m done and close my computer for the night, I’m bound to change my mind again. So without further ado:

Day24-28 043

Day 25-1
I was really excited about how this one turned out. I used new textures that I found from the uh-mazing Kim Klaussen. And I used the Pioneer Woman Actions that I am so very, very fond of. I shot this using my Canon Rebel Xsi and I actually shot it with my 18-55 kit lens. I haven’t been using this lens much, but after seeing how some of these photos turned out…I am PRETTY sure that I just changed my mind. Head over to Monica’s to play along. I’m also entering this in the You Capture Theme: Flowers! 4439779044_27e3214dc0_o

Sweet Shot

>> Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Ok. I’m totally and completely 110% behind on editing and posting. As we speak [ok, well as I type] I am attempting to eat supper (at a very late 10:00 pm), edit said photos that I am behind on and type this little post up for tomorrow. I don’t like when I miss challenges. I feel out of it. And I don’t feel cool. Because there is no post here for all of you to come comment on. So that’s why I’m going all Carrie Bradshaw right now as I multi-task and type and post and eat and…well you get the picture. I have not chosen a winner for my Giveaway here yet. I’m sorry. I will have it posted for you tomorrow. For sure. Please accept my apologies now and have a look at the photo that I have chosen for my Sweet Shot this week.

Day19 062
I took this in the broad daylight  by the window in the kitchen. However, when I saw it on my computer when I uploaded it, I knew that I had something totally different in mind for this photo. And this was it. Dark background with the bright contrasting yellow. I could really get all philosophical on you here, but I won’t. sweetshotbutton

And since it’s Tuesday and I just discovered this new challenged, I thought I would show you the original before photo so that I could link up with Touch up Tuesday. So here you go. The before:

Stem Removal

>> Thursday, September 16, 2010

I love sunflowers. Other than daisy’s, they are my favorite flower. Something about them screams happiness to me. When I purchased these at Walmart mart the other day, I knew they were going to be the subject of many, many photos. I wanted to take a few that focused on the petals. However, since they were going into a vase after their photoshoot, I didn’t want to cut them stems off. So when I snapped my photo I got stuck with this ugly white streak of bokeh in the background. Which was simply not acceptable. SO….I fixed it.

Day16 035 Day16 035

I [obviously] did some cropping and used layers and a lot of blur action to remove the stem. It’s still not as perfect as I would like it to be, but the textures I added took away what little bit of the stem removal you could see. I also adjusted the layers to brighten the center of the flower and a lot of sharpening to get the detailed look that I wanted. All of the textures I applied were found via Google. All for free. I shot this with the Canon Rebel Xsi using my 50 mm/1.8 lens and edited in Photoshop Elements 8.

Day11 030

Day11 030

I really hate shooting photos in doors. No matter how close to the window I get, I am never completely satisfied with the outcome. Even with the correct White Balance. This photo I liked because of the clarity of the spots on the flower [pardon my use of the term ‘spots…’ I know nothing about gardening or flowers. LOL] But the lighting of the background wasn’t my favorite. So I ran a few actions by The Pioneer Woman and played around with the contrast and levels. I also added textures that I found via Google. I can’t even tell you specifically where they came from. I shot this using my Canon Xsi and a 50 mm/1.8 lens. This was edited in Photoshop Elements 8. Head over to Monica’s for more Before and After photos or to link up your own!

Timeworn

>> Sunday, September 5, 2010

Day8 038
This weeks theme for the Sunday Creative is Timeworn…which means something that is “worn by time.” I took this photo for my 365 project and I’m fascinated by it. For starters the rose is dead…old…dried out. It’s one of the few that I saved from the bundle of roses that the husband sent me a few weeks ago. But the dry, flakey petals, the cracked leaves and fragile stem are worn and weak from the passing of the days. Head over to Madeline Bea to link up and view other “Timeworn” photos.

Tuesday x 3

365 Day 2 and 3 057 copy I’m linking this cute, cute photo of Little Man giggling up with Trendy Treehouse! I took at the park yesterday. He loves the swings. It only took a few tries to get him going, but once he started laughing he couldn’t stop. This weeks theme: Laughter. I’m also linking this up with the “In a Yellow House” challenge. The theme is “Work & Play.” And while this photo is one of Little Man playing…being a parent is a full time job and there is definitely, DEFINITELY a lot of work involved.

365-Day 2 046This is possibly one of my most favorite shots from this past week. I took it at the pond by my parents house. It had just finished raining, the water was murky, but calm as I have ever seen. I plan to frame this one. It’s so tranquil and relaxing. I’m linking this shot up with Darcy for Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Still 049 I’m linking this picture up with Faith at Simplicity for her Tuesday theme: Love. I know that this is not a picture of two people holding hands, or kissing, or a mommy and a daddy with their newborn. Those are all perfect examples of love. But these flowers represent that to me. I got these in the mail about 2 weeks ago. Hubby has been in California sine April 17. He missed our Anniversary. He missed my Birthday. He missed Mother’s Day. And unless we go visit, he will miss Little Man’s birthday. But nonetheless, my wonderful husband finds the time to send me flowers…Crimson Red roses at that. Two dozen of them, with a beautiful card telling me how grateful he is that I am his wife and how much he misses me. Love that man so much. And these flowers remind me that love can and will conquer all…even long distances.

Tuesday’s Two

>> Monday, August 9, 2010

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a few fun photo challenges [as opposed to every other day, right?!]

4561666212_17394624b6_o

The theme at Trendy Treehouse this week is “Vacation.” I started to post a beach picture or something, but then I realized that there are probably going to be 100 other beachy photos to go along with this theme with summer wrapping up and whatnot. So instead I thought I would post one of my favorite photos from our trip to Atlanta for the 4th of July. This was really the only big vacation that we took with hubby being gone and all.  We went to a Braves Game while we were in Atlanta and this is the huge Hank Aaron statue that sits outside of Turner Field.

And for “Sweet Shot Tuesdays” with Darcy, I’m linking up one of the totally random, but really fun vintage photos I took at my parents house the other night. You’ll be seeing several more where this came from this week as I’ve used some others in different challenges. Hope you like! I know it’s one of my favorites.
